In 2007 we wanted to make ourselves independent of soliciting outside money so we started hosting our own dragonboat regatta - the Independence Dragon Boat Regatta (IDBR) and have since grown it into the largest and best-run single-day race in the country. Running a great race is a lot easier when the entire volunteer staff are dragonboat champs themselves and know what a well-run race is supposed to look like.
